Howler and TKKT fees

What we can say about Howler fees

These are the fees we can verify. Read TKKT vs Howler for festivals, scene fit, and cashless tooling.

Reviewed 30 August 2026. https://www.howler.co.za/pricing returned a 404. A 404 on a guessed URL is not proof that Howler publishes no fees. This page does not invent a percentage. Check the live Howler checkout for your event type.

What we can verify about Howler

Howler is an established South African ticketing brand in the dance and festival scene. Its public site describes a per-ticket service fee. Source: https://www.howler.co.za/

We do not state a Howler percentage or rand-per-ticket amount because their dedicated pricing URL was not available on the review date. Rival comparison pages that quote Howler figures are not a usable source. If you already sell on Howler, the fee that matters is the one on your next checkout.

02

Verified TKKT money, not a forecast of Howler's cut

Beyond the Dust

110 paid tickets at Opium on 6 May 2026. R27,500 processed through the organiser gateway. R5,100 optional top-ups. R0 TKKT platform fees.

Carinus Ignite

253 paid tickets as of 31 August 2026 for the Friday 4 September residence night. R45,110 processed. R0 TKKT platform fees. The event is not sold out.

What you still pay on TKKT

Your Yoco, PayFast, or Paystack card-processing rate. That is the provider's fee, not a TKKT booking fee.

03

How to compare your own night

  1. 01

Take your ticket price and expected sales

Example: 120 tickets at R200 is R24,000 face value.

  2. 02

Look up Howler's current service fee on their checkout

Use the figure Howler shows you. Do not use a number from a blog or from this page.

  3. 03

    Subtract that from face value

That remainder is what a marketplace fee would have removed before your own card processing.

  4. 04

On TKKT the platform line is R0

Card processing still applies through your gateway. There is no second TKKT booking fee on top.

04

When Howler is still the better pick

If you are running a multi-stage festival or a club night that relies on Howler's dance-scene discovery audience, that marketplace may be worth their service fee. TKKT is built for organisers who already fill the room on WhatsApp and Instagram.

TKKT is newer (2026) and does not match Howler's brand recognition with dance attendees. That is a real tradeoff, not a footnote.
